Channel U's SuperStar
I guess most of Singapore heard of the Channel U's Super Star... a Chinese version of the popular Singapore Idol...
Much controversies has rise... when the Kelvin the visually handicapped won the Male Category over the hot favourite Junyang... many believe that its sympathy votes... is it so? I read an article in The New Paper, where the writer says she cast in her 60cents SMS to vote for Kevin because of his fighting spirit... and if a contestant is not a handicapped, no matter how well he/she sang, the SMS won't be cast... what does this tell us???? hmm...
For the Female Category, I personally find that Xin Hui is a better singer than Kelly... although she was criticised by the judges to have no fashion sense... why do you need to have a fashion sense to be a singer? I think some of the judges themselves look *yikes* during the show... Do they have fashion sense? Furthermore, a singer would have their own nanny and image consultant to choose their outfits and makeup artiste, hair stylist to make them presentable... Am I right to say so?
Well, I guess most people would be curious about how the now popularised contestants look like in the past… I happen to have the SAJC 1999 Yearbook where Junyang and Wayne, now more fondly known as JJ, are ‘featured’… Ok, it’s just a yearbook but I got to see how they look like in JC… actually, Wayne was already a prominent figure in college… he took part in the National’s Day talent time back then... everyone knows who Wayne is… haha… guess performing is in him all along…
